I hope you're doing well. Over the past four weeks, I had the opportunity to help two organizations prepare and present their workforce strategy plans to their boards. One observation stood out: discussions around headcount reduction were not the dominant theme.

Instead, board conversations centered around three critical questions:

  1. How prepared is our workforce for the skill shifts that AI will create?
  2. Can we continue to grow—organically or through acquisitions—without significantly increasing our workforce?
  3. How can we redeploy a meaningful portion of our workforce toward solving innovative and disruptive customer challenges?

Based on these discussions, we have compiled a short document that explores these themes in more detail. Two board presentations are certainly not a statistically significant sample from which to declare a trend, but the conversations revealed several insights that may be useful as you think about your own workforce strategy.

As always, I hope you find it valuable.
