This week has been exciting with conferences and a few global location visits. In the last few emails, I have been saying that creating relevant and appropriate new Human Workloads is the most important task for any HR leader or Workforce Planner. We have been creating various assets in this regard, such as difficult-to-hire skills.
We are now working on a new concept called the Role Deterioration Model. A role deterioration model simplifies the complexity of various tasks by translating them into manageable workloads. It then examines the range of available Generative AI (Gen AI) products to determine their potential impact on these workloads. By utilizing heuristics developed by Draup, we can make informed predictions about which Gen AI advancements will most likely influence specific workloads. This detailed analysis allows us to identify initial zones where roles are likely to deteriorate due to the integration of Gen AI, providing valuable insights for strategic planning and workforce management.
The model analyzes workloads in their current state without considering future changes. Consequently, some of the existing workloads of software engineers may be disrupted by Gen AI as the role evolves to include new workloads introduced by Gen AI advancements.
We analyzed various job roles, and the results are quite impressive. We categorized the outcomes into three zones: Deterioration Zone, Enabling Zone, and Non-Adoption Zone. The Deterioration Zone includes roles significantly impacted by Gen AI, the Enabling Zone comprises roles enhanced by Gen AI, and the Non-Adoption Zone consists of roles where the Gen AI impact could not be quantified due to various reasons.
We were surprised to find that certain roles, such as warehouse manager, did not appear in the results. This may be due to the emphasis on people management in the job descriptions rather than system-related workloads.
Here is a snapshot of the output. If we should run your specific roles, let us know. Our tech team will create a playground for you to test the model yourselves very soon.
Summary: Job role deterioration models can serve as highly valuable directional tools for HR leaders. It is important to remember that as certain job roles deteriorate, there is potential for the emergence of new workloads.
