Reskilling Strategy to Meet the Demand for Cloud Talent


The global cloud computing market is expected to reach $830 bn by 2025, with a CAGR of 17.5%. This growth is driven by the growing number of enterprises that are investing in cloud technology to accelerate their digital transformation. In the last five years, global cloud infrastructure expenditure has grown three-fold and is further expected to reach $480 billion by 2025 with a CAGR of 24.4%. Due to this, there is a high demand for cloud professionals with niche job roles such as “cloud migration specialist” and “cloud infrastructure engineer.” 


However, there is a significant talent shortage in the cloud computing industry. In India, the talent supply only meets 30% of the demand, while in the US and China, the gap is 31% and 33%, respectively. This gap is expected to grow in the coming years, with a projected demand-supply gap of 47% in 2023 and 51% in 2025. 


To meet this demand, traditional IT job roles such as system administrators and maintenance engineers can be reskilled to new-age cloud computing roles. This can be done by analyzing the skills gap and providing training to bridge it. Some emerging roles in the cloud computing industry are cloud migration analyst, cloud administrator, cloud architect, and cloud consultant.
