This week in Automotive: Auto players hunt for opportunities within the self-driving ecosystem with road sensing and smart data processing

Latest Industry Insights from Draup Braindesk

  • EV Charging Infrastructure – Overview – India Region
The electric vehicle charging infrastructure market is evolving strongly, with solutions covering all emerging trends and changes across the industries.

  • Draup analyzed the electric mobility (e-mobility) sector in India, categorized by the availability of electric vehicles (EVs) on the supply side and adoption trends on the demand side. Adequate charging infrastructure is the prerequisite that will define EV adoption in India. EVs carry limited onboard energy in the battery packs, which need charging depending on the battery pack, size, and capacity. Charging systems are therefore essential for the sustainable operation of EVs.

  • Tata TechnologiesTCSTech MahindraWipro, and Tata Elxsi are the key providers in software testing and full-stack development activities.

  • Jaguar, Tata MotorsGeneral MotorsFord, and Jaguar Land Rover are the key clients with higher intentions on the Indian EV market.

  • IoT / Cloud, AI, Analytics, Big Data are some of the top opportunity areas for service providers across India.

EV Technology Trends and Adoption:

Indian automakers have also begun introducing high-tech EVs, and some government initiatives are pushing greater use of electric and hybrid car technologies.

E-Commerce:

Indians now prefer e-commerce purchases where this e-tail model marks the change in the paradigm from where dealerships were at the epicenter of all automobile transactions. But the new e-commerce-based framework might transform everything from the customer experience to the purchase journey forever.

Vehicle-to-Grid technology:

India enhances its solar power capacities. Vehicle-to-grid technology can help balance the power grid by using EVs to draw power from the grid during peak generation hours, store it in their battery when not running, and transfer it back to the grid when needed.

AI-based hardware technology:

Artificial Intelligence-driven hardware automates the identification and repair of defects in Lithium-ion batteries of electric vehicles. This next-generation technology does away with the requirement for customers to visit service centers to address battery defects.

AI and IoT-enabled technology:

Indian manufacturers plan to add AI and IoT-enabled technology to their electric vehicles. The delivery giants are opting for AI and IoT-enabled technology in most of their electric vehicles, with software analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), to improve the performance of EV batteries.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA):

Robotic Process Automation is heavily used in certain manufacturing processes, including spray painting, brazing, and so forth. But the use of RPA in India is still limited as the majority of processes are led manually. The COVID-19 outbreak will prompt more automakers to change the status quo and automate processes as much as possible.

Battery Technology:

Battery technology is benefiting from the power of predictive analytics and data intelligence. Predictive maintenance facilitates high battery efficiency and operational reliability. Data science, AI, and big data tools are used to improve the performance of battery packs.
