Is Your Talent Strategy Digital 2.0-Proof?

Share

Contrary to popular perception, your organization’s talent pool is just as important as your tech stack when it comes to driving digital transformation initiatives.

While competing enterprises can easily buy into the same digital stack, the defining factor lies in leveraging talent to build cutting-edge solutions. And to build such solutions, enterprise workforce planners need to nurture the next generation of skills and close any existing skills gaps.

To do this, first, they need to answer the below questions:

  • What future skills will the organization require?
  • What soft skills, hard skills, digital skills, etc., will the company no longer need in five to 10 years?
  • When should my organization choose upskilling and reskilling vs. hiring to close skill gaps?
  • What is the best strategy to implement upskilling/reskilling?

Once the above questions have been answered, HR leaders can truly begin to prepare their workforce for Digital 2.0.

Reskilling/Upskilling: Build a future-proof workforce

Without a doubt, the key to building a future-proof workforce is implementing robust reskilling/upskilling initiatives within your organizations.

Studies show that ~58% of HR leaders in the IT ecosystem agree that reskilling is crucial to stay relevant in the evolving technology landscape.

However, researchers are also quick to point out that while reskilling is important, your reskilling strategy itself needs to keep pace with changing technologies.

This sentiment is echoed in another survey, which found that ~48% of enterprises who adopted reskilling failed to deliver any tangible benefits.

As sad as it was to hear that, the problem is quite apparent.

Enterprises just don’t realize the amount of data that is actually required to zero-in on and execute a reskilling/upskilling strategy.

From job-role identification to peer benchmarking, role mapping, & skills-gap analysis, HR stakeholders need to consider a lot of variables and their correct sequence of execution to leverage the maximum value of re/upskilling.

However, re/upskilling is to be seen solely as a single arrow in a quiver full of strategies to prepare your talent for Digital 2.0.

To successfully weather the coming talent demand storm, workforce planners need to leverage the best in new-age tech to generate intelligent insights. However, the question remains; what will empower this “technology?”

Vijay Swaminathan, CEO & Co-Founder of Draup, believes that the answer lies with carefully curated data.

And to extract insights from this data, we need to leverage cutting-edge technology, such as AI & ML, like never before.

Watch the fireside chat with Vijay Swaminathan and Rohit Madhok, VP at GlobalLogic as they discuss talent & more in the post-pandemic, Digital 2.0 world.
