Amazon to open new warehouse that will use robotics in Alberta next year
Amazon.com Inc. will turn to robots to help pick, pack and ship parcels at a new Canadian facility. The technology has been used at other Amazon warehouses since 2012, but the company said the 5,574 square-meter Parkland location would be its first robotics facility in Alberta. Despite the warehouse’s use of robots, Amazon said it will hire more than 1,000 full- and part-time staff to work at the facility, which is expected to open next year. Read More>>
Apple seeks more time for Irish data center
Apple Inc. is seeking a five-year extension to its planning permit for an 850 million euro (USD 1 Bn) data center development in Galway, western Ireland, the Business Post newspaper reported, citing planning documents. Google gets green light for new Sweden data center
Google has been given outline planning permission for a new data center in Horndal, Sweden – providing it does its bit for the environment. In 2017, Google acquired 109 hectares of land in the region, which is 160km north of capital Stockholm, and its original plan for a data center is now coming to fruition. The data center specifications weren’t outlined in court documents, but it is believed that Google is planning a five data hall campus on the site. Read More>>
